July 2010
We did it! Together with Hans Sligter and Sjoerd van den Broek we launched The LSB Experience on sunday the 4th of July at café The Peuk in Bussum. "Helplessly hoping" of Crosby Stills and Nash is a song that represents what we're doing, but we also sing Jackson Browne, James Taylor and Venice. I used to sing at home with my family and later on with Martin and Jerry, doing acoustic performances, so this feels like coming home to me. You know, I still love making music with my younger brother Steve, but he's a busy man nowadays starting up his career as a teacher in latin dance. But whenever we get the chance, we're singing songs together.
Mayby the time has come to continue songwriting.....
June 2010
I'm enjoying making music with friends, or actually performing beautiful covers, like "On and On" of Stephen Bishop and "Mexico" of James Taylor. I rediscovered the wonderful music and vocals of Crosby Stills & Nash! Pure joy...
On June 5th I performed at a charity evening for Afghanistan in Amersfoort and enjoyed te performances of a young cellist, a choir with 14 people, Jenna Fay with a great guitarist.
On June the 6th I attended the open stage at café De Peuk in Bussum and played a couple of songs with Hans Sligter and later on with Claudia, my younger sister. We sang "Now and Then" of Kenny Loggins.
In the meantime I'm building on my one man company Marsmelody, singer songwriter at funerals.....
April 2010
I've done it! With a little help from my friends I've made and sent a press release on Wednesday March the 31th.
The next morning I felt great and the telephone rang. One of the regional weekly house to house newspapers called. The next week 3 of the regional newspapers and the Bussumse Krant published an article about Marsmelody, the one man company I officially started on february the 1st 2010.

Yesterday, a lady of "Musicmaker" called with some questions after having received my press release. I'm excited!
Another thing is, that I performed a couple of songs at a local venue. The Peuk. It was fun as always, and on sunday the 6th I'll be playing some great songs of The Eagles, James Taylor, Venice, Fleetwood Mac, with Sjoerd van den Broek and Hans Sligter, great guitarplayers and vocalists. I'm having fun already performing with my younger brother Steve and friends Ronald Günther and Sebastiaan Tampinongkol.
December 2009. Speaking at home, with friends and with my coach has helped me. To look my fears and doubts right in the eye works for me. I feel there's a stillness growing inside me. I tell people what I'm up to, that is networking in preperation of "Marcel Luntungan, singer-songwriter for funerals". More and more I'm letting go of my expectations. Yes, I am unique and No, I am not special.
"The secret of love is in opening up your heart." James Taylor wrote "The secret of life" probably 30 years ago and I've loved this song for as long as I can remember, but the meaning to me is more present than ever.
October 2009. I performed at a seminar Over-Leven. Subject was children dealing with loss. Listening to the personal stories and letting the emotions be present in my singing brought out the best in me. I felt humble for having had the opportunity to give a piece of me. In this same period I've performed at a funeral fair at the Archeon in the south-west of The Netherlands, at a rememberance day in Heiloo and at the opening of a funeral parlor in Zeist, meeting a lot of good folks and telling them of my plans for "Marcel Luntungan, singer-songwriter for funerals". Networking.....
September 2009. Almost one year has passed since I updated my website. January was my last official day at the office and am I looking for a job. In the meantime I've been trying to start up my own one man company to find out it's hard on my own. To stay focussed and away from expectations and dissappointment I need to get deeper into what I'm driven by.
December 2008. Uptill now, I've been making music while having a 9 to 5 job, 40 hours a week. But this really is a year of Change. After 10 years of working at SBS Broadcasting, I'm leaving! So what can I do? I can find another daytime job and hold on to what I know; I can really go a 100% for my own music and forget about the rest; I can use my musical talent to reach any goal in harmony with all there is. Now this is a great Challenge!!
Listen to radio Amsterdam FM on friday September 26th. I'll be performing two songs and DJ Nick will do interview.
Last Saturday August the 23rd I had my first meeting with Jeroen Molenaar and Rob Hendriks. First, we talked a little bit as we hadn't really seen eachother for quite a while. Then, we tried some things with "All I need", "I'm gonna make a change","De Tuin". It all went so natural. Both Jeroen and Rob had great ideas. After spending a year performing these songs on my own this really works inspiring! I feel confident in working together with them in this project and I believe the album will be something to be proud of!!
I was sad not having been selected for the semi finale of the GPNL. Nevertheless I've decided to record my first album later this year. I will choose about 6 songs and will be working a.o. with two good friends and former bandmembers of a Piece of Cake, Jeroen Molenaar and Rob Hendriks. Longtime friend Klaas Berings will produce the album and we'll do the recordings at the Freshbeat Studio in Amsterdam. I'm looking very much forward to working with these fine musicians. It brings out good memories....
I've been selected to showcase for the annual national music contest De Grote Prijs Van Nederland 2008, category singer songwriter. On the 12th of June 2008 I may perform before a jury. If I get through, I'm in the semi-finale. There are 40 contestants of which 12 will be selected for the semi-finale. Exciting!! More details later...
